VITAL

Sunday May 10th, Brighton UK

A day of dancing inside/outside on Brighton Beach - tending to our own aliveness; exploring, embodying, expressing and enjoying ourselves...

We need our vitality. Our aliveness. Our get up and go.

In this afternoon workshop we will tending to our own aliveness by dancing inside/outside of the stunning Yellowave studio right on Brighton Beach using “silent disco” headsets.

“It is not the end of the physical body that should worry us. Rather, our concern must be to live while we're alive - to release our inner selves from the spiritual death that comes with living behind a facade designed to conform to external definitions of who and what we are.” ― Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

5 Rhythms dance is the bases of our enquiry- in this dance practice our movement come from own internal impulses. There are no steps to learn and nothing that we need to do right. We are gently challenged to move in new ways-to dive deeper into the experience of being alive, to grow our range and reach of movement and to try on embodying new ways of being. Vital. Vivid. Visceral. Real.

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”  - W.B.

Why does movement matter? To put simply it’s a practice. When our bodies move our lives literally move, we’re in better shape, we cultivate choices and can make changes. we engage with our own energy, coming into contact with our own vital life force. Working with the body is an excellent short cut to tapping into the deeper feeling currents within us and to bring about change in our outer lives.

We will also work with eco-somatics- strengthening our connection with the natural world around us. Cultivating our feeling of being here, belonging, being a part of it all…

Be warmly welcomed.

Whom is this for? If you have a body you can dance!

We welcome all genders, races, faiths, nationalities and abilities. Mavericks and misfits are welcome!

These events are not suitable for those under 18-we work with diving deeply into our own internal world and so a depth of developmental maturity is required.

Super early bird rate (until the 10th January 2020): £35 / £30 concessions

Women Wisdom, Wildness Wonder.

A Sunday soul tending session.

Sunday 7th June. Sussex UK

We will gather as group of women exploring what is means to be both wild and wise in our lives. How can we tend to our (so needed) wild soul- our inner experience and still be sensible, self- sustaining adults?

How can we make room for wonder amidst all that we must tend to day today? How can we make space amidst the busyness to find the wisdom within us?

This will be an afternoon that gives us space to connect- to ourselves, to each other, to the lovely land around us.

We will dance the 5Rhythms (hopefully out of doors with the silent disco headsets if the weather is good)

We will use the creative arts to listen in deep to what is true for each of us.

We will sit in circle on the land hearing each others hearts.

We embody what we need to see us through.

( if the weather is awful then we will do all of this indoors inside the super-sweet Iford Villege Hall).

Moving with the Mystery

Retreat Day, near San Fran USA

Sunday 18th August 2019

Moving with the mystery- tending to our own transformation.

Dancing outdoors in shady oak grove out on 200 acres of stunning private land in North Marin -just 40 minutes North of San Francisco.

"We have not been raised to cultivate a sense of Mystery. We may even see the unknown as an insult to our competence, a personal failing. Seen this way, the unknown becomes a challenge to action. But Mystery does not require action; Mystery requires our attention. Mystery requires that we listen and become open. When we meet with the unknown in this way, we can be touched by a wisdom that can transform our lives.” - Rachel Naomi Remen

We will begin with a morning 5 Rhythms dance session out on the land. There are no dance steps to learn and nothing to "get right", just a willingness to dive deeply into the dance and to be with our own experience.

When we dance we get to explore those those myriad of mysterious worlds within us. Using the dance to drop in deep. Moving with our own mystery.

Tending to our own transformation.

Re-member meaning to let it back inside our limbs, to literally “coming to our senses.”

Creating space to connect- inside, outside.

Dance sessions will take place using "silent disco" headsets so that there is no noise pollution to the surrounding environment -with music and gentle guidance delivered through the headsets.

For lunch we will have a delicious farm-to-table shared feast together in the EarthRise restaurant.

In the afternoon we will start with a simple-sharing circle in the shady oak grove; finishing up with another deep-dive dance session out under the cover of the trees, coming back in to close contact with the mystery, within us and around us.

"One morning you might wake up to realize that the knot in your stomach had loosened itself and slipped away, and that the pit of unfulfilled longing in your heart had gradually, and without your really noticing, been filled in—patched like a pothole, not quite the same as it was, but good enough. And in that moment it might occur to you that your life, though not the way you planned it, and maybe not even entirely the way you wanted it, is nonetheless—persistently, abundantly, miraculously exactly the way it is."- Lynn Ungar

Wisdom and Wonder

Retreat Day, near San Fran USA

Sunday 9th June 2019

Wisdom and Wonder: a retreat day of dance outdoors out on 200 acres of stunning private land in North Marin -just 40 minutes North of San Francisco.

We will explore the theme of wisdom and wonder throughout the day. Will listen in to the wisdom within our bodies by using the dance to drop down out of the brain, coming in close to our somatic sensations, seeing what is happening within us, in each unfolding moment.

We will come into wonder by getting present to the great grace of the living world around us. We will let nature nurture us: recharging, refreshing, renewing ourselves with shared time outdoors.

About the venue: Earth Rise is a retreat centre with 200 cares of spectacular private land with rolling hills, circling hawks and rooted oaks. It is located in San Antonio, just two minutes off junction 467 North on Highway 101, roughly 40 minutes out of San Francisco.

The centre was founded by Dr. Edgar Mitchell’s, one of the Apollo astronauts whom witnessed the earth rise from space and was completely awestruck and wonder-filled by its beauty. On his return to earth he co-founded the retreat centre to create a daily reminder of the life-changing moment when he (and then through those infamous "earth rise in space" photos -all of humanity)— witnessed the majesty of our beautiful blue planet emerging from the darkness. We can’t think of a better place to spend the day coming back to the wisdom and wonder of it all.

Earth Rise Retreat Centre, 101 San Antonio Rd, Petaluma, CA 94952

Date: Sunday June 9th from 1030 am to 5pm.

Suitable for ages 18 to 108!

SHE TALKS ABOUT THE WIND

By Jack Crimmins

a woman is restless in the evening wind

she has traveled far

nurtured, danced in cities,

held men, held women, been held by them,

lost and lost again

kept her own mind

her sadness and grief within

she knows the mysteries of hidden things

takes sustenance from the earth

again and again

she's pierced her heart early

and known the blood of time

and in her knowledge

there is an art

of living

a quiet truth

at evening she waits

and makes decisions

to dance or hide with the wind

to dance sometimes and gather strength

to hide sometimes and find freedom within

she knows the earth and trusts the wind
